I like the white but the grey spaces to me in ways i can’t describe. There are so many black cars for sale it’s stupid but I just cannot own one. I still want blue but there may be only 50-100 cars ever made that fit my needs.

My Lincoln is blue with with white interior. It’s amazing, except for actually sitting in it because than it gets dirty. Actually it gets dirty cleaning it, not sure how that works, but it does.

Yeah also I am so scared of real black in Tennessee.. People think California is hot but Nashville is like Houston. A million degrees and it’s 99% humidity because drying off after getting out of the shower is overrated because you might as well just get dressed soaked.

Southern Illinois is almost that bad, our IS350 has black interior and the windows are tinted, it still sucks. The ventilated seats are pretty effective though.

The ISF doesn’t have ventilated seats but the non-bolstered areas are alcantara so I am less worried about burning my butt.

Yeah I like the look of the black except I can point to 3-4 neighbors right next to me that have black cars (Camry, Mercedes, BMW, and Honda) as well as the thought that Tennessee during the summer can feel like hell would be a saving grace because the heat and humidity can both 99 on the normal.

Compromised seating position. You cannot sit low enough to not feel like you’re too high in the car and the pedals are too far left. I’m right at 6-feet tall with fairly equal torso to legs ratio. I always felt like I was having to sit leaning back more than I’d like, and with my legs too far left to really feel at home behind the wheel of that Gen IS, even in the IS F.

Rides stiffer than really necessary even though it is a performance vehicle, and is way too harsh for a Lexus. I hear better dampers were speced later in the model run, and coil overs make a huge difference as well.

Still an auto, and the paddles aren’t really fast enough to compare to better DCTs.

Cramped back seat even though it has four doors.

The Nav/Radio is seriously dated and non-removable.

It would be a fun weekend/occasional use car. But for a DD, it will grow old unless you are built like a tiny Asian man and don’t mind an imperfect car.

The better Lexus F car is the GS F. It’s got usable rear seats. Drives better. Has their utterly fantastic torque-vectoring e-LSD (a real LSD with computer control). Better Nav/Radio/Voice Commands. Bigger V8. More HP and torque. Sounds just as good.. Drives like a dream. And during the warmer months can be a legit DD.

Memphis is even worse, 99% of the time. Back on topic, there’s a blue one always parked by my dentist’s office (not for sale to my knowledge), but I didn’t think they were that rare. If you can’t find one, gray for sure, although the red they put on those cars really does look fantastic.

White is nice, but I have a flame blue 09, and I’m actually a fan of the origional wheel. It’s quintessentially japanese. I had the privelidge of spending a day with yaguchi san (the chief engineer) and he described how they were meant to give the car presence, but still maintain good airflow over the brakes. They dont easily dirty either. Its a well thought out design.

I’ve seen all those but the problem is the midlife update happened in 2011.added LED DRL, different suspension, interior updates I think, and updated steering geometry.

Side note - I’m doing everything I can to save the V8s for you. I will have 9.0 liters worth of V8s.

A GS-F is also twice as expensive as a decent IS-F. Of course the GS-F is superior but it’s not really an options for his ~35k budget. A used GS350 F-sport is probably the more “rational” car to cross-shop against for price and practicality (but no V8).

The only other option he could cross-shop against for his Lexus tastes would be a used RC-F, there are some that are just above 40 grand:

Only after I posted that did I read enough further comments to realize he was seriously thinking of buying one. And without that stated explicitly, and the inclusion of a budget, how am I to know that the GS F is not an option?

That said, I was merely pointing out my opinion that while still fun, the GS F is better than the IS F.

It’s really good. I’ve wanted one since the project was first anounced and meeting Yaguchi san sealed it. It’s actually my wife’s daily. I wanted the torsen, but I wanted the factory stiff suspension as i experienced it on track at the launch. It’s safe, comfortable, reliable and performs when asked every time. Two kids seats in it, it’s great. But I will warn you that early ones are stiff rides. I imported a 12 bost 302, and it was soft by comparison. And judging by american reviewers, you guys don’t seem to like stuff that’s firm. This is mine at the Japanese car show in ballarat today(vic, australia)

You’ll love it mate, they are truly epic. It’s been designed to be flogged every day of it’s life. The engine and induction noise alone are just fantastic. Pro tip: disconect the vacum hose to the air intake for awesome induction noise all the time.

It’s the first post 2000 performance lexus, a Yaguchi san was pushing shit uphill just to get the intake noise. The exhaust is muted, and thats what the high ups wanted. It was still a ‘lexus’ after all. Since Toyoda san has been running the ship, things have changed. Point in case, youtube lc500 exhaust vids. Same engine in a higher state of tune, and it sounds batshit. If you block that intake vacum line, you’ll love the noise inside the cabin. But the noise outside is very weak. I’ve heard some of the Aftermarket systems such as Borla, which is a nice system, but to much bass and not enough pitch for me. I have muffler deleted my E39 M5, so I’m thinking about doing the same. Having had an E46 M3, I like a raspier note, bit more sharp.
